In January, the Turaida Museum Reserve starts campaign „Learn about history and events of the Turaida castle in the course of 800 years through the stories told by castle objects!” The purpose of the campaign is to invite visitors of the museum to pay attention to antiquities, found in the castle, and by their assistance to discover exciting historical stories. During the year, each second week an original object in the castle exhibitions will be highlighted. As a reward for finding this object and learning about it, the visitors will get a special label of the campaign. A vault is an arched structure in masonry buildings used to provide a space with a ceiling. Vaults are built either from stones or bricks using lime mortar. A vaulted space is more pleasing than a space with a flat ceiling, opening it up and increasing the feeling of spaciousness, excitement and security. A vaulted ceiling reminds of the sky above a beautiful pine forest, sky is also sometimes referred to in literature as the vault of heaven.

The tower-shaped southern block is similar to double-chapels with vaulted ceilings that are common in Medieval castles in Germany.  The Gothic double cross vault that covers the first floor is rare in Latvia.
