The house of Peasants Liable to Corvee has been renewed and a new exhibition “On the Way to Establishment of the State of Latvia. Peasant Liable to Corvee.  Independent Farmer. Citizen” is being installed.  The new exhibition will be opened On 4 May 2019 – the day of Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia. The exhibition “On the Way to Establishment of the State of Latvia. Peasant Liable to Corvee.  Independent Farmer. Citizen” will be opened in the house of Peasants Liable to Corvee of the Turaida Museum Reserve. This exhibition is dedicated to Latvia’s Centenary and tells about the spiritual awakening and civic consciousness of the Latvian people in 19th century, its role in the establishment of the Latvian state in the early 20th century. The exhibition reflects events from the abolition of serfdom in Vidzeme to the Agrarian reform of the Republic of Latvia, which chronologically covers the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
