Roman sesterce, denarii of the 11th–13th centuries

Romas impērija, 2. gs. Imperators Antonīns Pijs (138–161) vai Hadriāns (117–138),
sestercijs (lielbronza). Monēta stipri nodilusi. Sv. 18,53 g; d. 33 mm. Bronza. Av.: redzamas
tikai imperatora galvas kontūras, kas pēc formas un masīvā kakla atgādina Antonīna Pija
(vai Hadriāna) portretu lauru vainagā profilā pa labi. Rv. pilnīgi nodilis (stāvoša dievietes

• The Roman Empire, 2nd century. Emperor Antoninus Pius (138–161) or Hadrian (117–138),
sesterce (a large brass coin). The coin is badly worn out. Obv.: only the outline of the emperor’s
head is visible, which by its shape and the massive neck resembles a portrait of Antoninus Pius
(or Hadrian), with a laurel wreath, on the right. Rv.: completely worn out (standing figure of a

Av.: baznīca ar krustu. Rv.: krusts ar kvadrātiem stūros, apkārt kvadrātu aplis un leģendas
imitācija. Sv. 1,4 g; d. 18 mm. Apsudrabota bronza
• Local reproduction of the German denar, minted in the territory of Latvia, 2nd half of the
11th century. Obv.: a church with a cross. Rv.: a cross with squares in each angle, encircled by
squares and an imitation of a legend. Silvered bronze

Vācija, Vestfālene, Korveja, abats Hermanis I (1223–1254), denārs. Av. redzams
sēdošs bīskaps ar krusta zizli kreisajā rokā. Monētpiekariņš ar diviem caurumiem, robu un
plaisu, nodilis. Sv. 0,7 g, d. 18 mm. Sudrabs. Sk.: Cappe, XIII, 38
• Germany, Westphalia, Corvey, Abbot Hermann I (Hermann I von Holte), 1223–1254,
denarius. Obv.: a sitting bishop holding his crosier in his left hand. Coin-pendant with two
holes, a notch and a crack, worn out. Silver. See: Cappe, XIII, 38
