The Stables
This building was shown on 18th century maps, and
it is likely that it was built by expanding an older
building. The eastern wall that is made of field-
stones and the bricks around the window
and door apertures are original. During the 19th
century, the building was used as a livestock shed,
and its southern end had a hayloft. The building was
used to house 30 to 50 dairy cows and 10 to 12 horses.
During the 1950s and 1960s, the kolkhoz kept cows in
the building. A silage tower was built at its southern
end. Today the building is once again a horse stable
with a paddock around it.
A Memorial Sign
An unknown man is buried outside the horse
paddock, and a memorial sign has been installed
above his grave. The skeleton was found when the
paddock was being expanded in the 1990s. Judging
from the condition of the bones, it is thought that
the man died in the 17th century. There is no
information to indicate why the man was buried
outside of a cemetery.
