In the Turaida Museum Reserve the historical period relating to the beginning of ecclesiastical reforamtion is being studied in the frame of research theme “Turaida as Part of the Riga Archbishopric,” whereas research of the diverse results of reformation are closely connected with research theme: “The Spiritual Heritage, Wisdom of Life and the Role of Religion in Human Life”.
The Turaida Stone Castle (1214-1776) and the Turaida Church (1750) are historical monuments around which have intertwined trends of ideas of different epochs leaving their imprints in architecture, interiors and historical evidences discovered during archaeological investigations. It is very important for museum to study the interfaces of ideas and applied historical sources in an interdisciplinary manner, including also reflections of reformation ideas in the monuments of architecture and archeology and environment, which closely resonate with political and cultural expressions characteristic to European cultural space.
