European Cultural Heritage Days in the Turaida Museum Reserve

On September 16 at 14.00 as part of the European Heritage Days, the Turaida Museum Reserve in the House of Corvée-peasants invites you to a conversation "Buildings, livestock and meadows as a cultural-historical value and the basis of sustainability".

During the event, we will talk about the opportunities provided by heritage for promoting awareness of sustainability, about examples that can be used today and in the future, based on heritage. This time the topics of the conversation will be - the construction of a clay adobe building as an example of an ecological, fire-proof and long-lasting building object, citing as an example the House of Corvée-peasants of the Turaida manor, and the value of the Latvian brown cow, which has been selected according to local conditions, which should be preserved.

As part of the event the a photo exhibition of Mintauts Slapjums will be opened, which will allow you to get a glimpse into the recent history of Turaida in the sixties of the 20th century.

This year the European Heritage Days across Europe will be held in the context of sustainability. The National Cultural Heritage Administration has chosen a theme for the 2022 European Cultural Heritage Days dedicated to a responsible attitude towards the future, wanting to highlight such objects of built heritage that were created or qualitatively restored in accordance with the principles of sustainability. European Heritage Days in Latvia will take place from the 16th till the 18th of  September. More information about the events can be found on the website of the National Cultural Heritage Administration in Latvia.
